Wed, 19 Jul 2023 23:58:00 +0000 Analytics data without cookies or fingerprinting #analytics #web All industry-standard methods to collect data for web analytics are relying on the identification of recurring visitors and transmitting personal data to third-party companies. The problem here is the data privacy aspect.<div><br></div><div>Within the European Union this constellation leads to incomplete data in web analytics. Consent banners are implemented on websites to block any trackers and only allow tracking once visitors click something like 'yes please track me'. Obviously, a high number of visitors does not accept that.</div><div><br></div><div>For some use-cases, there is no alternative to visitor consent and profiling-based tracking. Just think of aggregating customer data within your CRM or tracking conversions and reporting them to ad networks. But there are other analytics tasks that would not require personal data or the identification of visitors.</div><div><br></div><div>Plain statistics about the number of website sessions, acquisition channels, or the performance of your content could be generated from technical website activity data without any connection to a visitor. We would not even require the IP addresses for this.</div> 3 points posted by matthias /problems/370-analytics-data-without-cookies-or-fingerprinting-analytics-web 370 Fri, 01 Apr 2022 16:43:00 +0000 Find why the customer didn't make the purchase #sales #analytics <div>Finding why the customer didn't make the purchase after visiting the buy page is hard, existing solutions are intrusive and inefficient.</div><div><br></div><div>Exit survey is one of the common methodologies applied to find why the customer didn't make the purchase but they are considered a nuisance and so we rarely get any valuable data from it.<br></div> 3 points posted by Jason /problems/286-find-why-the-customer-didnt-make-the-purchase-sales-analytics 286 Mon, 23 Aug 2021 13:47:00 +0000 Analysis of social media posts of anyone #socialmedia #analytics I work as a freelance social media manager, as part of my work I have to analyse the performance of the social media posts of my clients and their competitors.<div><br></div><div>Twitter &amp; Facebook themselves offer some form of analytics; Twitter offers for all profiles and Facebook offers it for Business pages, obviously they are limited to the user profile. Social media posting tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer offer insights for those posts posted via their platforms.</div><div><br></div><div>But, I need insights for the tweets and posts of others. Like their top performing tweets/posts, segmented categories, timings, gain/loss of followers according to their tweet/post, tweet/post sentiment, media categories etc.</div><div><br></div><div>I assume this kind of insights is possible from the public data as there are some tools like <a href="https://followerwonk.com/">https://followerwonk.com/</a>&nbsp;which gives deep insights about twitter followers and <a href="https://foller.me/">https://foller.me/</a>&nbsp;which gives insights about public tweets although is limited to 100.</div><div><br></div><div>I think if this need gap is fulfilled, the product could be indispensable for social media analysts.</div> 3 points posted by Yogesh Basu /problems/110-analysis-of-social-media-posts-of-anyone-socialmedia-analytics 110 Wed, 15 Apr 2020 16:36:00 +0000 Top visited, shared content in a website #analytics #web When I read a good article from a random blog or website, I would like to read other top rated content from the same website. By top rated, I mean the most visited and shared content from the same website.<div><br></div><div>Most websites don't have any widget to rank their best articles. I would like to know if there is any tool which one can use to get the top ranked content from any website and if not is there a need gap for this?</div> 2 points posted by Yogesh Basu /problems/98-top-visited-shared-content-in-a-website-analytics-web 98 Tue, 10 Mar 2020 16:50:00 +0000 On premise video indexing with visual data #analytics #video Current video indexing are mostly done by converting 'speech-to-text' and then indexing it. This is mostly done to save on compute resources and that algorithms to index video with visual data are not as stable as that of text.<div><br></div><div>e.g. Searching for a video for <b>an old man with red shoes</b> wouldn't yield results unless there was an audio in the video describing it when using speech-to-text indexing.</div><div><br></div><div>It is said that even Youtube hasn't indexed all its video by visual data due to sheer number of videos. There APIs available like that from <a href="https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/services/media-services/video-indexer/">Microsoft</a> which claim to enable video indexing with visual meta data, but they are not a on-premise solution and so using those might rake up bills if the number of videos are large.</div><div><br></div><div>There is a need gap for on-premise video indexing technology.</div> 2 points posted by datascience enthusiast /problems/56-on-premise-video-indexing-with-visual-data-analytics-video 56 Thu, 12 Dec 2019 06:08:00 +0000 At which point in the video, users pressed like #analytics #video 'Likes' are the current social currency and are integral part of the online video hosting sites like Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook etc. We can see the number of likes on the video, but we don't know at which point in the video users pressed the like button.<div><br></div><div>If the user likes are represented as some form of distribution graph overlaid at the bottom of the videos, we can skip to that part of the video directly if needed i.e. skipping to the good part of the video instantaneously.</div><div><br></div><div>Thinking about this, skipping to the good part of the video might be exactly the reason why the video hosting sites don't provide this feature as it could be used to skip Ads; then again Ads could be inserted right at the most liked segment of the video nor that I favour such practices or that it is not already happening.</div><div><br></div><div>But, this might further add up to the problem of limited attention, instant gratification as people might just watch only the most liked part.</div><div><br></div><div>There is a need gap for enabling public 'Like' analytics for videos by the video hosting sites. If you agree with this need gap, do share your opinion and let the video hosting sites listen to you.</div> 2 points posted by Abishek Muthian /problems/15-at-which-point-in-the-video-users-pressed-like-analytics-video 15 Mon, 02 Sep 2019 05:24:00 +0000
