Hacker News from YCombinator is a news submission website optimized for gratifying one's intellectual curiosity. Regular readers know that the real gold is in the comments of Hacker News.

But in the urge to submit/respond to the comments, FOMO other HN stories the knowledge in the comments are often lost if not saved(favorites). Even if saved, Memory ( /problems/41 ) should serve right to get what we need and when we need it.

I feel there's a need gap for a better note taking solution for assimilating knowledge from Hacker News discussions.

Topic classification is one of the most requested features of Hacker News, which is understandable as stories from wide range of categories are submitted on Hacker News and Users with different interests consume content from HN.

Classification of topics can help with filtering the content we are interested in and for bookmarking purposes.

Every now and then a service announcing notification for Hacker News pops up which takes in email id, username and send email for HN replies. Then there are browser add-ons which send notifications when there are new comments to subscribed HN threads.

But, as far as I have searched there is no service which allows me to subscribe to specific threads and comments for notifications without having to give in my email id.

I think there would be takers for such a service, including myself as HN crowd are generally averse to mandatory email id and many would like to follow interesting threads, comments including ones which they have replied to. 4 points posted by Shinzo Reyen
