Due diligence is the process of conducting an investigation, review, or audit to verify facts and info about a particular subject.

Often due diligence is done in the business world to verify a business's value or economics. Usually investors, businesses, and governments will do due diligence to get a full picture on a company or person.

However many startups, private investors, or under-resourced organizations cannot afford or don't have the time to manage a thorough due diligence investigation.

Many internet companies sold through online marketplaces end up being scams or have fraudulent revenue or profit numbers.

Ex: JP Morgan Chase getting scammed for$100+ million dollars, simply because of bad, biased, or non-existent due diligence.

Major fraud cases like Theranos, Nikola, and FTX are simply a result of bad or non-existent due diligence.

Online infrastructure service providers especially the cloud providers ban the customer accounts at whim often due to flawed, outdated fraud detection systems.

There are numerous horror stories[1][2][3] from customers on how their accounts were banned for no apparent reason without proper recourse.

There are genuine cases of fraudulent activities happening using the cloud infrastructure, but the current mechanisms used to identify those activities are inefficient and therefore genuine customers who haven't done anything wrong get caught up in it. I presume both the service providers and the customers would like to get this need-gap addressed.

People who don't want to send their house or business CCTV video to be stored by some company or don't want to pay yearly cloud subscription charges prefer self-hosted Network Video Recording(NVR). Self-hosting a home security camera setup now requires finding the right camera and setting it up with tools like Shinobi, ZoneMinder, Motion etc.

But self-hosting a CCTV setup has several problems,

Supported cameras are often low quality, riddled with bugs, never receive any firmware updates and send data outside the network.
Open-source CCTV solutions require separate computer to run while proprietary IP Cameras are self-contained solutions.
Setting up open-source CCTV software is beyond the technical capabilities for an average house or business owner.
Quality of motion detection are not on par with proprietary camera systems.

Locks have been around for thousands of years, although some improvements have been made throughout these years, amazingly the basic design remains the same and so are the vulnerabilities. One has to just look at the LockPickingLayer channel to find the main lock of your house or safe to be picked in under 20 seconds.

Oh, there are newer Biometric, RFID based locks you may say; see them getting picked in excruciatingly simple ways here and here respectively.

I think it's about time we consumers rise up against these subpar designs profiting over our ignorance for hundreds of years and for startups to disrupt the industry.
