Some videos such as Interviews, News can be converted to podcasts as usually there is not much value in the video of such content; but the conversion needs to be done manually by extracting audio from the video.<div><br></div><div>I would like to have a podcast app which can also take in video links (such as Youtube, Vimeo etc.) and convert them to audio (i.e. podcasts) automatically.</div> 4 points posted by Gibbs /problems/66-automatic-video-to-podcast-conversion-podcast-video 66 Fri, 03 Jan 2020 13:10:00 +0000 Make entry level webcam better #webcam #video <div>Now that many are working from home, webcams are of demand and often unavailable. It was tourist video and I was standing outside a shop when I was captured in the video. I thought it would be nice for other strangers in the video to identify themselves in the video as well.<div><br></div><div>Then I thought, wouldn't it be cool if anyone can identify themselves in the random Internet video when they want to. This is mostly done to save on compute resources and that algorithms to index video with visual data are not as stable as that of text.<div><br></div><div>e.g. Searching for a video for <b>an old man with red shoes</b> wouldn't yield results unless there was an audio in the video describing it when using speech-to-text indexing.</div><div><br></div><div>It is said that even Youtube hasn't indexed all its video by visual data due to sheer number of videos. There APIs available like that from <a href="https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/services/media-services/video-indexer/">Microsoft</a> which claim to enable video indexing with visual meta data, but they are not a on-premise solution and so using those might rake up bills if the number of videos are large.</div><div><br></div><div>There is a need gap for on-premise video indexing technology.</div> 2 points posted by datascience enthusiast /problems/56-on-premise-video-indexing-with-visual-data-analytics-video 56 Thu, 12 Dec 2019 06:08:00 +0000 At which point in the video, users pressed like #analytics #video 'Likes' are the current social currency and are integral part of the online video hosting sites like Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook etc. We can see the number of likes on the video, but we don't know at which point in the video users pressed the like button.<div><br></div><div>If the user likes are represented as some form of distribution graph overlaid at the bottom of the videos, we can skip to that part of the video directly if needed i.e. skipping to the good part of the video instantaneously.</div><div><br></div><div>Thinking about this, skipping to the good part of the video might be exactly the reason why the video hosting sites don't provide this feature as it could be used to skip Ads; then again Ads could be inserted right at the most liked segment of the video nor that I favour such practices or that it is not already happening.</div><div><br></div><div>But, this might further add up to the problem of limited attention, instant gratification as people might just watch only the most liked part.</div><div><br></div><div>There is a need gap for enabling public 'Like' analytics for videos by the video hosting sites. As long as I have known myself, I have always been fond of esports, I watch major tournaments, I follow some players and I also play myself. I really liked the format of TikTok, short clips about people's lives or funny moments, but I didn't feel comfortable there, I was missing something, namely the esports/gaming content that I wanted to watch and watch every day. 1 points posted by gaserd /problems/278-gaming-content-streaming-video 278 Wed, 04 Aug 2021 06:08:00 +0000
