I can understand the privacy concerns when CCTVs are involved, but if facial detection and personal identification is not part of the solution; I don't think privacy can be impacted with a solution to this problem.
On the other hand, after lockdown is lifted; contact tracing would be the only methodology available to trace and contain the COVID-19 disease. A tool to monitor social distancing would be indispensable to aid contact tracing efforts of the health professionals.
