Paywall avoidance for submission sites

Major online news websites rely upon paywalls for subscription to fund their journalism. But this becomes a hindrance for submission forums like HackerNews, Reddit etc. When the sites with paywall are avoided, the websites looses potentially large number of visitors from these submission forums and thereby potential subscribers.

One trick which is commonly used in these submission sites is to include the URL of the news article which bypasses the paywall in several news websites but not all e.g. Financial Times, But this results in the news website loosing all traffic from the submission forums.

News websites can disable the paywall based on the source like they do for social media, But perhaps a paywall service which can detect high traffic sources and disable paywall automatically could be useful for these news sites.
