We spend so much time on searching for stuff in our real-life that, we have got used to the criminal waste of time it is.
It is 2020, there must be a better way to search for things in real-life right? Or at-least help to place things better, so that we can find them easily when needed.
I'm sure this a problem faced by everyone, I challenge the brilliant minds to come up with a solution for this.
Hey!
I've designed an app that helps not to forget that you haven't forgotten.
The idea is simple:
When you need to go somewhere, you probably do a house check. Many people do different things to remember, like recording the video, slapping their face, jumping on a single leg, etc.
Now you simply launch the Locked.app https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/locked-app/id1586961642 and switch a few toggles there.
The app also tracks your geolocation (only on your smartphone, not being shared with me or smbd else) and notifies you when you leaving your home area, so you won’t forget to switch your toggles. It’s also switches your toggles off when you coming home.
If you wanna meet with the app closer, please check https://medium.com/@gl1n/how-we-created-an-app-that-makes-life-easier-for-the-paranoid-2cf51c38da54
I’ve done my best to describe everything there 😄
Hope you’ll like it ❤️
Please, share your feedback, it’ll be so helpful for future dev. Stay tuned ☺️
Hey all! I built an app to solve this problem! If you ever need to remember a small piece of information like when or where you did something, just type it in and the time/location will be logged. You can then search for it and easily recall when/where it was. A friend of needgap suggested I post here!
App Store (iOS): https://apps.apple.com/au/app/spacetime-logger/id1479321094
Video Demo: https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/i8azuy/if_youve_ever_forgotten_a_small_piece_of/
Logger: Spacetime Notes helps you write notes quickly and capture exactly when and/or where you wrote them. During the pandemic, you can also use it to record when, where, and who you've been in contact with by simply typing their name (like a text message).
I've personally used it to remember conversations with people, record the time I start something, track progress of my projects, jot down fleeting thoughts, mark where I've parked, and pinpoint cool places I've visited. Basically, anything you want to record quickly that you might need to recall in future. I like to think of it as a cache/extension of your biological memory.
I'd appreciate any feedback!
You are right. I wonder if you had a webcam feed in every room + image recognition AI then a Siri-type service could answer queries eg: Where are my keys? => They are on the table in the hallway.
Hey guys, we built Storage Hunter to try and help with this problem. It started with this very problem of not being able to find all our stuff and wasting countless hours trying to do so. Sometimes finding that it wasn't even where we thought it was in the first place.
So we built an app to try and help us manage this. You can add you storage unit; be it a unit, garage, room, loft, attic or whatever. You can then add your items to that place, tagging them in images to help you find the exact location and where you left it.
We've just launched the "V1.0" so it's basic specification, but we''d love to know what things would make it more useful to you guys in filling this gap.
Check it out on https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mystoragehunter.storagehunter
iOS coming as soon as Apple fix my enrollment, so very soon!
Would love your feedback!
You could remove the friction of having to capture the image manually for each object, by automatically detecting objects via strategically placed cameras in room same way how Amazon Go detects things which consumers put in their cart for queue-less billing.
We thought about using beacons for detecting proximity of items. There are some great ones coming out that actually harness energy from wifi networks to keep them powered and can be so small they can be even put in a pair of socks.
When the technology is more mainstream it would be great to have these on something like an asset tag sticker and just stick them on everything and track things that way.
Low energy beacons is a worthy candidate to be explored, but then again even if it is miniaturised, cost-effective; the action of placing them in our things needs to be repeated and that's the friction a camera based setup can avoid completely although with questionable feasibility.
Hey, thanks for letting me know. I'll check out 'Storage Hunter' and get back to you.
What you are looking for is called a "Memex"
See the following example (at 22:55) https://youtu.be/DFWxvQn4cf8
Thank you, that was cool. I think that is more useful for storing digital footprints or as the speaker says data pack rat. I'm looking for help in identifying things in physical world.
Why to complicate and over-engineer. Go to google, "Ok google, remember I kept my phone in the room" and ask it back "Where did I keep my phone" and it answers what you told it to remember
Not sure whether you are trolling or if that was a serious suggestion. Google Assitant or Siri itself is very complex and was unimaginable a decade back, using a reminder for each and every day-today action is counterproductive.
Where as solutions suggested by others could work without any action by me.
