▲ ▼ Make entry level webcam better
Now that many are working from home, webcams are of demand and often unavailable. Even when available, they are the same ones from a decade ago.
e.g. Logitech C270 debuted 10 years back, I even had one which I gave it to someone about 6 years ago as I didn't use it much at that time. Guess what, I had to buy the same webcam again now for 40 USD!
Which other tech from a decade ago are we still buying as it is? I can't believe entry level webcams hasn't gotten better when the phone cameras on even entry level smartphone gets better every 6 months.
What is happening with the webcams?
What are the requirements you all have in mind for an improved, entry level webcam?
Good question.
Better clarity(not like something from a decade ago), auto focus and decent mic should be the basic guarantee.
That's a good question and yes; those with large marketshare for webcams are profiteering by selling decade old hardware at premium.
So, there's definitely a need gap for a good quality entry level webcam.
DSLR webcams makes sense for those who stream professionally, but its pain to set it up just for a video call.
