There is one browser extension which helped me a lot with this: https://www.deprocrastination.co You start a session and it looks you out from all the distraction. Comes with stats, feedback and tips at the same time. Done the trick for me dealing with the big distractions...
Interesting idea - this would work well for call centres. I've heard cases were people in Western countries hung up because they heard the person had a foreign accent.
Alternatively, the standards of the TVs need to defined enough to allow independent developers to root the systems, build and install their own operating systems (as it's done with with smartphones). Partly doable already but not as mainstream as with phones I would think.
